The genesis of Lawgix Advisory Group comes from the experience acquired during more than 25 years spent in various administrative roles within professional services firms, and from a diverse range of businesses that span the professional services sector, experience that is unmatched by any of our competitors. Our background includes:
Invaluable early career experience in the Marketing Department for one of the then “Big Seven” Accounting firms.
Nearly a decade (combined) spent in pivotal marketing and business development roles at two Engineering firms (one a design-build firm, and one focused on ground engineering and environmental services), both of which were – and continue to be – ranked on Engineering News Record’s (ENR) annual “Top 30” Global List.
Several years at one of the world’s largest and most successful management consulting firms as a communications specialist and engagement team communications strategist.
Senior leadership roles (Director and/or C-suite level) leading marketing and business development for two different Am Law 100 firms, as well as a handful of regional and national multi-practice and boutique law firms (which also has led to significant C-suite experience).
In 2022, after more than two decades as an in-house marketer for professional services firms (and specifically law firms for the last 13 years) where I most often led teams organized to support marketing and business development activities, I launched Lawgix Advisory Group, and began my journey as the Founder and CEO of this professional service firm business management consultancy. My career experience included the soup-to-nuts execution and implementation of annual firm-wide and practice group level marketing, communications, and business development plans, as well advising and coaching individual professionals to plan and execute goal-oriented practice development strategies.
A differentiating credential that has afforded me a strong and dependable network of professionals, who like me, have seen it all and done most of it, was earned in 2014 when I successfully completed George Washington University’s Master’s degree program in Law Firm Management. At graduation, I was honored – along with the rest of my cohort – with the Stephen R. Chitwood Award for Academic Excellence, bestowed by the co-directors of the program to the entire class that year in honor of the combined cohort’s extraordinary academic excellence and achievement. This educational experience was the eventual flashpoint for my eventual ascension into senior leadership roles in many of the firms I have worked over the last 10 years. Though most often leading marketing teams, I acquired a wide range of administrative leadership experience during stints at firms where my role was a hybrid of marketing, professional development, human resources, recruiting, corporate communications, strategic planning, budgeting and finance, operations, project management and process improvement.
In February 2020, I was Certified as a Business Development Coach by the Legal Sales & Service Organization, and I have leveraged my years as a coach and advisor in tandem with my significant experience as a senior level marketing communications professional to develop and deliver formalized training programs covering a variety of marketing and business development topics – from crafting a business development plan to firmwide strategic planning, effective use of technology for selling and prospecting, and how to craft and deliver a compelling and effective elevator pitch. Many of the programs I developed have been approved for continuing legal education (CLE) credits across multiple jurisdictions, and they are now part of the Lawgix Advisory Group curriculum.
Some might suggest that I’ve been something of a prolific thought leader in the areas of professional services leadership, strategy, marketing and business development, and though I tend to take a more modest approach to describing my contributions, I have been widely published, quoted, or sourced in dozens of trade publication articles, blog posts, podcasts, and periodicals. Owing to my undergraduate studies in musical theatre performance, I’ve developed a knack for engaging audiences with a dynamic but unassuming style and a professional yet polished demeanor. These natural abilities have helped elevate my profile as I became a regular on the speaking circuit at various levels. In the last 15 years, I have presented directly relevant programs, delivered presentations, and participated on panel discussions for national and international conferences for the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), the Legal Marketing Association (LMA), the American Bar Association (ABA), Content Marketing World, and the Pragma Congress.
As a lifelong learner, I have a very strong belief in the benefits and value of ongoing professional development, and I have spent my career in leadership advocating to make sure the teams I led had access to the same kinds of programs and training that helped me advance my career. I continue to be active member and volunteer for the Legal Marketing Association, where I held Regional Board positions as both Treasurer and as President-elect for the Northeast Region, served as a two-time Regional Conference Planning Committee member for the Midwest Region, and rolled up my sleeves as a LMA-International committee member for Strategies, the LMA’s thought leadership publication; as a member of the LMA’s Professional Advocacy Working Group; and as a 2-year co-Chair of the LMA Governance Committee, I helped lead initiatives that continued the organization’s longtime Pathways to Leadership program and oversaw the training of the annual Chapter Presidents Council on critical issues related to the leadership and governance of the organization. Though the vast majority of my recent trade association involvement has been in the legal space, I am also a past-member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, the Association for Accounting Marketing, the Association of Legal Administrators, and the Legal Sales and Service Organization.
